WHO'S THIS

WHO RUNS THE SHOW ?

BIW Listserv was started in October 1998 by Carmel Thomaston (aka Fay Robinson). Carmel handed over the reins to Bonnie Saunders in June 2002 and in July Maureen Wood became the List Moderator. Regretfully Carmel passed away in December 2002 but she remains with us in spirit. In January 2006 the reins then passed from Bonnie to Maureen.

BIW List Owner / Moderator

Maureen Wood: Members know her as Moe. For the last five years she's worked from home as a writer and domestic engineer. She writes articles, poetry and has three books in progress. Her writing has been published online and in print. Writing reviews for Linear Reflections has been a great opportunity to read some of the latest literature and to witness big name concerts. Maureen edits a number of newsletters for WordBeats, BellaOnline: Large & Lovely and Literary Fiction. It is a constant battle every day to beat down the internal editor and the dreaded procrastination but she strongly believes, someday soon, she will support herself and her husband on the income from her writing. Maureen resides in Ontario, Canada with her husband of 10 years and their two furry children.

BIW Welcome Committee

Kathy Hagan: On January 30 , 2002, Kathy Hagan sold a romance novel to senior editor Melissa Jeglinski at Harlequin American Romance. That day was cold and snowy, in Kansas. Over twelve inches of snowfall the night before meant that schools had been cancelled. Kathy received her news while in the company of her husband (he was a returning engineering student at the time) and two very young daughters. Her life -- and that of her family -- has changed in numerous ways since that memorable January day. Kathy's dream to try to publish a romance novel became a concrete set of goals, and she now works specifically to publish one to three books a year. Her family has learned to tolerate deadlines and appreciate 'good mail days.' Kathy and her family have learned that writing, like any profession, has its share of pitfalls. However, romance writing is still Kathy's dream. The benchmark just keeps getting higher, and the struggles are always worth the rewards. Kathy, who writes as Kaitlyn Rice, is currently working on her sixth novel for Harlequin American Romance. She lives in Topeka, Kansas with her civil engineer husband and two slightly older daughters.
